London's Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has distanced himself from rumors that the capital's team will acquire Bordeaux talent Malcom for 40 million pounds sterling.
The Gunners are already preparing for life without Alexis Sanchez and, according to various sources, the 20-year-old Brazilian is supposed to be his replacement.
However, even though the team manager does not rule out the possibility of strengthening this winter, he does not want to reveal his specific plans.
"He is a good player, but nothing is happening at the moment," Wenger said about Malcom during a press conference.
"At the moment, we are not working on that."
Talking about the winter transfer window in general, the Frenchman added: "I do not rule that out - in defense, in midfield, or in attack. We are active in the market."
"However, I do not want to provide news that I cannot confirm. Everything changes very quickly."
So far, the only player Arsenal has added is defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, while Francis Coquelin has already left for Valencia. Soon Sanchez should also leave the team, and the future of Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil remains uncertain.
