London's "Arsenal" coach Arsene Wenger insists that he does not doubt the ability of the team's star Alexis Sanchez, and in yesterday's match against "Liverpool" he left him on the bench due to tactical reasons.
The Chilean only appeared on the field after halftime, but in the second half, after playing for just 12 minutes, he immediately made an assist to Danny Welbeck.
However, the advantage created by the opponents in the first half was too solid for the "Gunners" to take away even a point from Anfield Stadium.
"I thought we needed to play more directly, and I wanted to bring out two players who are strong in the air, because we decided to play more directly," Wenger said.
"Then (the plan was to - ed.) bring out Alexis Sanchez in the second half, but obviously, I think it was easier for the strikers in the second half, and you could see different performances from Giroud and Welbeck, as we dominated the midfield much more."
"Everyone will come to the same conclusion, but I am strong and conscious enough to analyze the impact."
"I do not deny that Alexis Sanchez is a great player, I bought him and always let him play, and I think he has improved a lot with us."
"Making a decision like this is not easy, but it must be answered for."
In the first half, "Liverpool" scored goals through Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, and at the end of the match, after a counterattack, Georginio Wijnaldum shattered the "Gunners'" hopes of equalizing.
