London's "Arsenal" coach Arsene Wenger said he is not afraid to spend money during the transfer window and hinted that new players could join the team in January.
In the summer, the "Gunners" paid 40 million euros for Alexis Sanchez, as well as a total of 60 million for Calum Chambers, Mathieu Debuchy, and Danny Welbeck. However, this season the capital club is particularly plagued by injuries and is currently in seventh place in the Premier League.
Wenger was criticized for not acquiring a replacement for the departed center-back Thomas Vermaelen and a defensive midfielder. In addition, the Frenchman has always earned the label of being a passive participant in the transfer window, despite justifying it with the costly construction of the "Emirates" stadium.
"There is a big difference between how people see me and what reality is: I am not afraid to spend money," said the coach.
"If you were to go out with me one evening, you would immediately understand," he added.
"What I don't like is spending money I don't have. That's not the case now, so I see no problems," Wenger said.
"I only fought against expenses that would have put the club's future in a dangerous situation," he concluded.
