"Arsene Wenger believes that the possible departure of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be very painful for London's Arsenal and urges him to stay at the club.
The midfielder has been playing for the Gunners since 2011 when he moved from Southampton.
The 23-year-old footballer finally had the opportunity this season to prove his worth in the center of the field, and the team's coach does not want to lose another player whose contract is valid until 2018.
Next summer, contracts of Kieran Gibbs, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, and Aaron Ramsey will also expire.
"Personally, I think it's very important for Chamberlain to stay at Arsenal," said Wenger.
"We bought him when he was very young, we raised him and I think he has a great mentality."
"I like his mentality and he has a good understanding of football. Losing such a player would cause us a lot of damage."
Chamberlain, who is having one of his best seasons in the Arsenal team, has so far scored six goals and provided eight assists.
