One match took place on Wednesday in the Scottish Cup - in the third-round match, the "Premier" league clubs "Aberdeen" and Edinburgh "Hibernian" met. In a thrilling match, "Aberdeen" playing at home managed to come back twice after conceding goals and secured a chance to play in a rematch.
2 - 2
43' [0 - 1] Ivan Sproule
58' [1 - 1] Craig Brewster
73' [1 - 2] Christopher Killen
89' [2 - 2] Barry Nicholson
Playing away, the footballers of "Hibernian" were more successful in the first half and a couple of minutes before the end Ivan Sproule led them forward, taking advantage of the fact that goalkeeper Jamie Langfield failed to catch the ball after Steven Whittaker's shot and scored into an empty net.
In the second half, "Aberdeen" coach Jimmy Calderwood, wanting to revitalize his offense, sent Chris McGuire and veteran former "Dundee Utd" player Craig Brewster onto the field. This paid off, as in the 58th minute the latter equalized with a header after Darren Mackie's pass.
In the 73rd minute, the visitors restored their lead when Chris Killen, stopping the ball with his chest, scored a precise shot for "Hibernian", but "Aberdeen" did not give up and once again this season saved the match at the end. In the penultimate minute, Barry Nicholson equalized after receiving a pass from C. Brewster.
The rematch will take place in Edinburgh on January 18, and the winner will play against last year's finalist "Gretna" in the fourth round. Meanwhile, on January 16, the last participants yet to play in the tournament, "Dundee Utd" and "St. Mirren", will meet, and on the same day and the following day, three more rematch matches will take place, in which the lower league clubs who haven't determined outcome in the first matches will compete.
