Media sources in Spain report that Jose Antonio Camachas is planning to step down from his position as head coach of Real Madrid. The reason for a possible resignation is cited as poor team performance at the beginning of the season.

Radio station "Cadena Ser" reports that J.A. Camacho has expressed his desire to resign to club president Florentino Perez. Camacho offered to resign from his duties, as he cannot leave on his own.

This week has been tragic for the royal club. On Wednesday, in the Champions League match, the team was defeated 3-0. Furthermore, on Saturday in the Spanish league match, Real Madrid lost 1-0.

Three candidates are already being named to take over Camacho's position. They are reputable Boca Juniors coach Carlos Bianchi, strategist Ottmar Hitzfeld, and England national team coach Sven Goran Eriksson. The most likely option is Carlos Bianchi, as if Hitzfeld were to become coach, a compensation would have to be paid to the German club. Swedish S.G. Eriksson would only become coach if he resigned from his strong position as England national team coach.

49-year-old J.A. Camacho became the coach of Real Madrid in May when Carlos Queirozas was dismissed. Later on, he criticized the club's decision to buy forward Michael Owen.
