During the training session on Tuesday sad news reached the football club "Panevėžys" - goalkeeper Tomas Švedkauskas suffered an Achilles tendon injury. The 29-year-old Marijampol native ruptured his Achilles tendon completely, and on Wednesday the footballer underwent surgery.
In the 2024 season, T. Švedkauskas started playing in the "FPRO LFF Cup" matches against Vilnius "Žalgiris", but later, after Vytautas Černiauskas got injured, he played three matches in the Lithuanian championship. In matches against "Kauno Žalgiris" and FA "Šiauliai", the goalkeeper did not concede a single goal and contributed to the team's earned points with excellent performance.
V. Černiauskas suffered a broken little finger of his hand on May 18 during the match against Kaunas district "Hegelmann" team. The Panevėžys player will return to the green field in the coming weeks.
The football club "Panevėžys" wishes a speedy recovery to T. Švedkauskas to return to the team as soon as possible.
Stijn Vreven's team will play a friendly match at home against the Riga "Metta" team on Friday, June 7. The match will start at 13:00 at the "Aukštaitija" stadium.
