Antonio Conte's career stage in the Italian national team has ended.
The 46-year-old specialist failed to lead the team among the top four teams in Europe - in the quarterfinals after losing to Germany in a penalty shootout.
"I lacked support, everyone, including the press, was against Conte. But I always fought for the interests of the national team, not for myself," Conte said.
"Nevertheless, I spent two wonderful years here, and everything was crowned by these eight weeks. I will always be grateful to the people who created an incredible atmosphere in the national team, which ended last night.
Now it's time to start another exciting adventure - take the helm of Chelsea. Before that, I will rest for seven days and try to forget the disappointment."
