Former London Arsenal team captain Tony Adams believes that Mesut Ozil would not be a club member if Jack Wilshere fulfilled his potential.
Adams accused Wilshere of wasting talent, stating that the Gunners' coach Arsene Wenger would not have needed to improve the club's record and spend 50 million euros on Ozil's acquisition last summer if the Englishman had been more focused both on and off the field.
The often injured midfielder once again forced questions about his behavior this summer when he was photographed smoking on vacation. Adams says that the 22-year-old player must straighten up, otherwise all his talent will go to waste.
"He needs to show more hunger and professionalism. He risks not fulfilling his potential and his career could end in an instant," - the club legend said in an interview with The Sun.
"If he had to choose a player for a cup final or other important matches, Arsene would choose Ozil, not Jack."
"The fact that Arsenal took and signed Ozil when they had a player of equal caliber in their ranks, he should take it as a personal insult."
"He needs to show more fire in his game."
Wilshere, back from the World Cup, has only appeared twice in Arsenal's preseason matches, but he could play in the Community Shield match against Manchester City.
