The 26-year-old attacking midfielder extended his contract with Lisbon's 'Benfica' club in November, but the buyout amount is prohibitive for one of the richest clubs in the world - 30 million pounds sterling.
It is claimed that both "Liverpool" and "Tottenham" teams are interested in the services of Gaitan, who with his playing style resembles A.Di Maria himself.
In Portugal, the midfielder has been playing since 2010, when he moved from the "Boca Juniors" club.
