Admitted mistake? UEFA suspends the VAR referee who worked in the PSG - Newcastle match © AFP

In the UEFA Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United on Tuesday, a quite questionable penalty kick was awarded to the English team at the end of the game, allowing PSG to level the score.

After the match, the frustration was not hidden by Newcastle's manager Eddie Howe, and it seems that even UEFA admitted the referee's mistake.

It was announced on Wednesday that the referee who worked at the VAR monitor in the PSG vs Newcastle match, Tomasz Kwiatkowski, has been removed from the same role in the game between Real Sociedad and Salzburg.

Interestingly, the final decision even after VAR review depends on the clarity referee, one of the best European referees Szymon Marciniak, who worked in this match.
