The 27-year-old Senegal national team player arrived at Portsmouth in 2003 for over 1.5 million pounds. Since then, he has played 52 matches for the Portsmouth team. Recently, several other Premier League clubs - , and - have shown interest in him.
A.Faye became the third Newcastle purchase during the winter transfer window. Before that, the club added two defenders - Celestine Babayaro and J.A.Boumsongas.
