AFCON surprises: Nigeria, Egypt, and Ghana scored points in the first round © ZUMAPRESS.com

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is demonstrating its unpredictability from the very first games.

Nigeria only managed a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

In the 36th minute, Iban Salvador put Equatorial Guinea ahead. However, Victor Osimhen soon equalized the score.

Nigeria looked quite lackluster throughout the entire match. Osimhen did have a great chance towards the end of the game, but it was wasted.

Egypt could not overcome Mozambique - 2:2.

Egyptians were the first to score in the match. 'Nantes' forward Mostafa Mohamed found the net in the 2nd minute.

Mozambique turned the score around at the beginning of the second half, but at least Mohamed Salah saved some face for the Pharaohs, converting a penalty from 11 meters.

The surprises did not end in the late evening. Quite surprisingly, they fell 1:2 to the Guinea-Bissau team.

In extra time, the victory for the underdogs was extended by Garry Rodrigues. Guinea-Bissau's team's notable players include Bebe, who previously played for 'Man Utd' and now represents 'Rayo Vallecano', and Jovane Cabral, who is part of the 'Sporting' team.
