In the Africa Cup of Nations, a regional clash took place between Ivory Coast and Senegal.
The quarter-final match ended after a penalty shootout, with Ivory Coast's footballers triumphing 5-4. The main time and extra time ended in a 1-1 draw.
Senegal took the lead early in the game after a goal by Habib Diallo.
Shortly after, Sadio Mane committed a rough foul, but managed to avoid a red card.
Ivory Coast players had a chance in front of their own fans. Nicolas Pepe, who entered the field after a substitution, won a penalty, which was converted by Franck Kessie.
Both teams had several chances to avoid the penalty shootout, but they were not taken.
During the penalty shootout, Senegal's center-back Moussa Niakhate missed, and it was Franck Kessie who scored the decisive penalty.
Senegal were the champions in the previous Africa Cup of Nations tournament. In the current tournament, the host team will face Burkina Faso or Mali in the quarter-finals.
