The football player is having problems with the tendons of his left knee and will miss the majority of this season.
The 25-year-old Dutchman has only managed to play in two matches, and he suffered the injury during a regular training session.
This is not the only problem bothering the Spanish champions. Defender Eric Abidal, as well as midfielders Andres Iniesta, Alexis Sanchez, and Cesc Fabregas, have various injury problems.
