African Nations Cup - without Nigeria

Yesterday it became clear that the Nigerian national team, which was the strongest African team in 2013, will not compete for the title next year.

Samson Siasia's protégés lost to Egypt yesterday and lost all chances of advancing from their qualifying group, which also includes Tanzania and Chad.

Indeed, the latter country withdrew from continuing their participation due to financial difficulties.

This means that the Egyptians, who have earned seven points in three matches, have almost secured the first place and a ticket to the tournament in Gabon.

With only two rounds left in the qualifiers, the only team that will definitely play in the Nations Cup is Morocco. Interestingly, after refusing to host the tournament last year, this country was banned from participating in it in 2017, but it seems that the African football federation will change its decision.
