"After a 14-year break, Liverpool triumphed in the Champions League"

On Saturday, the 2018-19 season ended with the UEFA Champions League final. In the Spanish capital, two English teams, "Liverpool" and "Tottenham" from London, clashed for the most important club trophy.

Right at the beginning of the match, receiving gifts from their opponents, the "Liverpool" club ended their title drought and triumphed in the Champions League tournament after a 14-year hiatus. The "Reds" proved their advantage with a score of 2:0.

The much anticipated final started quite dramatically for the "Tottenham" team – just 25 seconds in, Sadio Mane hit Moussa Sissoko's hand in the penalty area and a penalty kick was awarded to Hugo Lloris's goal.

It was the first "Liverpool" attack on the opponents' goal. Mohamed Salah took responsibility and stepped up to take the penalty kick - his shot was accurate and the "Reds" gained the advantage.

After the painful blow, "Tottenham" did not lose focus and tried to take control of the ball. The match unfolded quite calmly after the goal - neither team imposed a high tempo and there were not too many dangerous episodes created.

A bit later, "Spurs" stepped up their game in the opponents' half, but Alisson did not need to put in much effort in the first 45 minutes.

The second half continued according to the plan of "Liverpool" - Mauricio Pochettino's pupils controlled the ball for longer periods, but did not pose any real threats.

The first more serious opportunity after the penalty kick was created only in the 69th minute, when James Milner received the ball after a great run by Sadio Mane and shot just wide of H. Lloris's goal.

In the 80th minute, Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura forced Alisson to make a serious save for the first time, but the Brazilian dealt with the danger confidently.

Four minutes later, another dangerous shot, when the referee awarded a free kick to Danny Rose, was taken by Christian Eriksen, but Alisson handled the Dane's attempt perfectly.

"Tottenham's" hopes were finally dashed in the 87th minute when Divock Origi, who appeared in the penalty area in the second half, defeated H. Lloris and sealed the victory for the "Reds".

For the "Liverpool" team, this was their first trophy since 2012. In the UEFA Champions League, they triumph for the first time since 2005, despite also reaching the finals in 2007 and 2018.

Liverpool's team is now closer to "Milan" in terms of Champions League trophies won - their history books will now include six victories in the prestigious tournament.
