After scandalous matches, the president of the Bulgarian Football Association lost his job.

The president of the Bulgarian Football Union announced his resignation on Tuesday in response to the incidents at the match against England in Sofia the day before, which had to be stopped twice due to racist and Nazi insults, according to lrytas.lt.

"Today, the president of the Bulgarian Football Union, Borislav Michailov, submitted his resignation request, which will be presented to the executive committee members during their meeting on Friday," - says the statement published on the union's website.

The Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Boyko Borissov, urged the football leader to resign, criticizing the serious racism incident that occurred during Monday's match between Bulgarians and English.

"This cannot happen in Bulgaria, where peaceful people live and many religions coexist - xenophobia and racism could not have appeared in the stadium," - said the Bulgarian Prime Minister firmly.

"These decisions were made due to the tension that has arisen in recent days, which is having a negative impact on Bulgarian football and the Bulgarian Football Union," - says the statement.
