After three years, UEFA will undergo changes.
After today's meeting, the current organization president Aleksandras Čeferinas announced that he will not run for re-election in 2027.
Initially, UEFA members made the predicted move and abolished the three-term limit initiated by the Slovenian himself. This would have allowed A. Čeferin to retain his power in the future.
However, it ultimately turned out that the 56-year-old official decided not to deal with European football anymore and, according to him, he will dedicate more time to his family in the future.
Lately, A. Čeferin has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons - the president showed his support for Russia's aggression against Ukraine and even tried to bring back the country's aggressor youth teams to official tournaments.
Furthermore, yesterday the general secretary of the Russian FA, Maksimas Mitrofanovas, revealed details of a conversation with A. Čeferin - the leader assured him that he cannot imagine UEFA without the state that kills Ukrainians.
