On Sunday evening, the last four matches of the 16th round of the Spanish "Primera" league were played.
The country's champions, Madrid's "Atletico" players, clashed with Bilbao's "Athletic" team on the road. The Basques took the lead, but Diego Simeone's proteges surpassed their opponents in the second half.
In the 17th minute, "Athletic" took the lead when Mikel Rico scored a goal. Antoine Griezmann equalized in the 46th minute, and just seven minutes later, the "Rojiblancos" were in the lead. Two more goals were scored in the remaining time, with A.Griezmann scoring a hat-trick.
After the victory, "Atletico", who are closing in on Barcelona in second place, are three points behind.
In other matches, "Villarreal" defeated La Coruna's "Deportivo", "Malaga" beat "Elche", and the match between "Granada" and Madrid's "Getafe" ended in a draw.
