London security Aleksandras Hlebas was named the best Belarusian player of the year. He won in a survey of 303 Belarusian football experts organized by the sports newspaper "Pressbol."
In the voting, A.Hlebas received 200 first place votes, significantly outperforming the second-place Samara's "Krylja Sovetov" defender Denis Kovba and "Sampdoria" forward Vitalij Kutuzov.
This title is already the third for the 24-year-old defender: a former "VfB Stuttgart" player, who moved to London club this summer for 15 million euros, was recognized as the best player in 2002 and 2003, and last year finished second, only behind Dynamo Moscow defender Maxim Romaschenko.
