Forward Aaron Hunt from the German Bundesliga champions Werder Bremen has extended his contract with the club for another four years and will play with the team until 2010.
The 20-year-old player has scored a total of 5 goals this season defending the honor of the Werder team both in the country's championship and in the UEFA Champions League tournament.
"Aaron has shown his extraordinary talent on the field this season, and that is a very important thing for our team," said the club's general director Klaus Allofs about the extended contract of the German player. "We are proud that another young player has grown in our team and become a professional."
The forward of the German (U-21) youth national team, whose mother is English, is satisfied with the course of events after being plagued by constant injuries last season.
"This contract is a confirmation for me that after a long-lasting injury from last season I am looking great again," he said. "This season is going wonderfully and I hope to continue demonstrating good form and scoring a few more goals."
Currently, the Bremen team is in second place in the country's championship, trailing only behind the leader Schalke from Gelsenkirchen. If the German team manages to avoid defeat to the defending champions Barcelona next week at the "Nou Camp" stadium, they will advance to the next stage of the Champions League.
Hunt was recently involved in a racism scandal, as he was suspected of insulting black players from the English (U-21) youth national team.
