Spain's La Liga championship finished its 32nd round on Monday evening.
The last match took place at the "Mendizorrotza" stadium, where the local "Deportivo Alaves" hosted the "Villarreal" footballers. The league newcomers defeated the "submarines" 2-1 after a tough battle.
In the 35th minute, Ibai put the hosts ahead, and defender Rodrigo Ely increased the lead at the end of the first half.
In the second half - in the 70th minute - "Villarreal" forward Cedric Bakambu reduced the deficit to one goal. The visitors tried to fight for at least a draw, but "Alaves" successfully defended and clinched the victory.
"Alaves", with 43 points, occupies the 11th position in the standings, while "Villarreal" remains in fifth place.
