All 32 teams participating in the 2006 World Cup in Germany are now known - after playing the second-leg playoff matches on Wednesday, it was revealed that the last tickets to the world championships were won by the national teams of Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Australia, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The first day's match took place in distant Australia, where the national team of the country met Uruguay. Australians equalized the overall score with a goal in the 35th minute and then won in the penalty shootout. The celebrations also took place in Trinidad and Tobago, where the team defeated Bahrain and qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time in history. In the remaining playoff matches, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland also secured their spots in the tournament.
