Spanish national team forward Albert Luque has declared that if he does not receive more opportunities to show himself on the field, he will be forced to leave the club.
The 28-year-old footballer, whose career in England has been very unsuccessful so far, is already linked to teams experiencing a shortage of forwards.
"If things continue like this, I will leave," said A. Luque to his country's media. "But at the same time, I do not intend to give up, so I will continue to work hard."
"I do not play as much as I would like. It is for this reason that I do not rule out the possibility of returning to Spain."
Having cost 9.5 million pounds to the "Magpies" in the summer of 2005, this season the forward has played only three matches in the Premier League. Not only that, he started all of them on the bench. He has scored only two goals so far this season in the UEFA Cup.
Meanwhile, the "Barcelona" team currently cannot count on three attacking footballers due to injuries - Samuel Eto'o, Lionel Messi and Javier Saviola. Recently, A. Luque and Henrik Larsson from Sweden, who is playing out the last years of his career, have been linked with the Champions League winners.
This summer, A. Luque had offers from France and Greece, but he quickly rejected them.
"Barcelona is a great team and it would be a pleasure for me to return to Spain. I was born in Barcelona, I am Catalan and I love this club very much.
"As I said, my priority is my homeland. I had the opportunity to go elsewhere, but I will only leave England if I have a chance to return to where I started everything."
