Americans reveal scandal: FIFA member confessed to bribery

Former FIFA executive committee member Chuck Blazer confessed to the US law enforcement that he and his colleagues agreed to take bribes. Ch. Blazer and his colleagues voted for the Republic of South Africa (RSA) to obtain the rights to organize the World Cup.

On Wednesday, US prosecutors revealed a conversation that took place in a US court in November 2013, where Ch. Blazer admitted to guilt for racketeering. "From 2004 to 2011, I and other members of the FIFA executive committee agreed to accept bribes in exchange for voting for RSA," said Ch. Blazer.

Ch. Blazer was the second highest-ranking official in the North, Central American, and Caribbean region federation from 1990 to 2011. He served as a member of the FIFA executive committee from 1997 to 2013.

Ch. Blazer also admitted to organizing bribery in 1992. He paid money for votes granting the rights to host the 1998 World Cup. At that time, France won these rights by defeating Morocco.
