Romanian Adrian Mutu apologized to his former club's fans after a scandalous incident where cocaine was found in his system. The 25-year-old striker was disqualified for seven months and released from the club.
In his first interview after the disqualification, the player said: "I deeply regret what I have done. I know that I disappointed them (the fans) and I wish them all the best."
"I made a big mistake and I am very sorry for it, but who in life does not make mistakes? I truly regret it."
A £20,000 fine was also imposed on A. Mutu. The football player will be able to return to the field on May 18 next year. Currently, the player is training with the Romanian national team and hopes to help them in the upcoming matches against the Netherlands and Armenia in June.
The footballer also hopes to attract the attention of powerful clubs after the end of his disqualification. Interest in the player has already been expressed by the club.
