An investigation into the brutally murdered "Sao Paulo" footballer started in Brazil.

Brazilian law enforcement is currently investigating the brutal murder of 24-year-old footballer Daniel Correa Freitas, as reported on lrytas.lt portal.

The footballer's body was found on October 28 in Sao Jose dos Pinhais in southeastern Brazil and the investigating officers were very surprised by the murder.

Local media reported that the body was found with the genitals cut off.

Soon the main suspect was found. It was 38-year-old businessman Edison Brittes Junior.

Recently, a video appeared on a Brazilian television where the suspect told his version of the story. According to him, the footballer was at his daughter's birthday party and tried to assault his wife.

"I broke down the door of the room, and he was on top of my wife, screaming for help. So I did what any man would do." This was not just because of my wife. It was for all Brazilian women. To those of you who are watching me now - it could have been your wife, daughter, sister... But at that moment it was my wife, whom I have been married to for twenty years," explained the suspect accused of murder.

The man urged that every person who knows about this incident should reconsider.

"Words will always be just words. But I want everyone to think about what they would do to protect their family, a helpless woman. I threw him to the floor and protected my wife from abuse," he insisted.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that friends tried to stop the man who was defending his wife from committing the crime, but he was too enraged. Later, together, they left a still alive D.C. Freitas in the same place where his body was found.

The suspect's daughter claimed to have heard her mother screaming and that the captured footballer remained silent.

She also claimed to have met Daniel a year ago, but never had any similar incidents with him.
