Announce three candidates to win the best UEFA Player of the Year award

UEFA has announced three candidates, one of whom will be awarded the best football player in Europe for the year 2019.

Competing for this prestigious prize are Lionel Messi ("Barcelona"), Virgil van Dijk ("Liverpool"), and Cristiano Ronaldo ("Juventus").

Van Dijk won the main trophy - the Champions League - with "Liverpool" last season. Messi reached the semifinals, while Ronaldo with the "Juventus" team continued the performance until the quarterfinals.

UEFA also announced that Alisson remains in fourth place based on points collected, with Sadio Mane in fifth place. The ranking also includes Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard, Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, and Raheem Sterling.

The best UEFA player of the year will be announced on August 29th. The draw for the group stage of the 2019-20 season will also take place then.
