Today, FIFA officially revealed the hosts of the 2026 World Cup, which this time became three countries.
FIFA has decided to entrust the organization of the championship to North American countries - the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The joint bid submitted by these states defeated Morocco in the voting, which was the only other contender to host the World Cup. This will be the first time in history that the tournament will be held in three countries.
It has also been confirmed that the number of participants will be expanded in the 2026 World Cup. Instead of the usual 32 teams, 48 national teams will compete in the tournament after eight years.
The most matches are planned to be held in the USA - in this country, it is expected to organize 60 out of the 80 anticipated matches, with the final scheduled at the "MetLife" stadium, located near New York.
