Former Leverkusen "Bayer" and Berlin "Union" strategist Sascha Lewandowski passed away today.
He was found in the morning at his home in Bochum, but the cause of death is not yet clear.
The German worked within "Bayer" from April 2012 to May 2013 as an assistant to Sami Hyypia, and in April 2014 he became an interim strategist.
Lewandowski took over at the helm of "Union" last autumn, but stepped down from his position in March. Doctors advised him to do so after diagnosing him with chronic fatigue syndrome, which led to heart problems.
Both former coach clubs expressed their condolences to his family.
Rest in peace, Sascha Lewandowski. Our sympathies go out to the family and relatives #fcunion https://t.co/XgwQ60P4io
