Approaching "La Liga" Championships: What Have Clubs Done in the Summer Transfer Market?

Today at 21:45 the Spanish football championship will start, and tonight Spanish football fans will be able to enjoy the first two matches of the "La Liga" championship. Before the start of the Spanish competition, Eurofootball.com suggests you pay attention to what the "La Liga" teams have done in the transfer market this summer.

Who spent the most?

"Barcelona" - 65.6 million euros

"Atletico" - 56.5 million euros

This summer, the most money in Spain was spent by the "Barcelona" team. After deducting the amounts received from selling several players, "Barca" spent a total of 65.6 million euros. The Catalans strengthened their team with four young footballers - defenders Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne, as well as midfielders Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez. Both defenders played in France last season, while Gomes and Suarez represented respectively the "Valencia" and "Villarreal" teams. Interestingly, all the new players were 22 years old when the team acquired them.

In third place last year was "Atletico", who also did not waste the summer and also strengthened their team. Five new players joined the team, two of whom were bought with an eye to the future - Diego Jota and Axel Werner are still young, so more is expected from them in the team's game in the future. Meanwhile, the other three players will definitely strengthen the team now. Attacker Kevin Gameiro comes from "Sevilla", winger Nico Gaitan was acquired from "Benfica", and right-back Sime Vrsaljko was bought from "Sassuolo". Considering that no leader left the club after the season, it can be boldly stated that "Atletico" definitely strengthened this summer.

The most expensive "La Liga" club purchases this summer:

Andre Gomes ("Barcelona") - purchased for 35 million euros

Kevin Gameiro ("Atletico") - purchased for 32 million euros

It's not surprising that the most expensive purchases were made by two teams that spent the most money. The most expensive purchase of the entire summer, at the moment, is Portuguese Andre Gomes. The defender is moving to "Barca" from "Valencia", where he spent the last two seasons. In his first year, he was loaned out from the "Benfica" team, and during the season, his performance and four goals convinced "Valencia" to pay 20 million euros for him and buy out his contract. This investment paid off for them - although last season he was not as productive (2 goals), his performance both in the club and in the Portuguese national team, with which he became a European champion, convinced "Barcelona" to spend 35 million euros on this player and strengthen their defensive line.
