In the English "Premier" League, London club, which is currently in 18th place, is shocked by bad news. One of the main team players, defender Andy Reid, will no longer be able to take the field this season due to a persistent Achilles tendon injury.

The 24-year-old footballer, since former "West Ham" manager Alan Pardew took over the team in December from Les Reed, has only played one game and has not played since mid-January due to troublesome Achilles tendon pain.

The last time the Irish national team player A. Reid played was on January 13th when "Charlton" suffered a 3-1 loss to "Middlesbrough."

The defender recently underwent a minor operation to correct the problem, but "Charlton" manager A. Pardew confirmed that A. Reid will not make any more appearances this season.

"Charlton" acquired the defender last August from "Tottenham" for a sum of 3 million pounds sterling, and during that time A. Reid appeared in 17 matches wearing the new team's shirt, scoring two goals in the Premier League this season.

A. Pardew's protégés have only eight games left to secure their place in the Premier League. The team is just six points away from the 16th place "Wigan" club.
