The new London "Arsenal" club defender Mesut Özil is confident that the team is capable of winning the English champions title.
Former Real Madrid footballer signed a contract with the "Gunners" during the last moments of the transfer window and moved to London to play for 50 million euros.
On Thursday, the German participated in his first training session with his new teammates and was introduced to the press.
When asked if Arsenal team can win the Premier League, M.Özil replied: "Of course. I know this team and the players we have here. Every player wants to achieve high goals, and this club is one of the biggest in the world."
"We want to not only play attractive football, but also achieve something. I can't promise that we will definitely win trophies, but we will give it our all," - said the new player of the team.
The footballer also commented on rumors about his allegedly unprofessional behavior: "People who know me, know that I act professionally. Over the past few years, I have played 159 matches, and I believe that if you are not a true professional, you cannot play that many matches."
So people know that I act professionally, so I don't care about any rumors. I have a new task here and I look towards the future. With the team, we have high goals and we will work very hard to achieve them," - M.Özil said.
Over the past five seasons, the German leads in assists in the five major European football leagues with 87 assists.
