London's "Arsenal" club inquires with Munich's "Bayern" about the possibility of acquiring Spanish midfielder Javi Martinez.
Arsene Wenger would like to purchase a central midfielder this summer who could form a partnership in the middle of the field with Aaron Ramsey, who has shone this season.
Leverkusen's "Bayer" midfielder Lars Bender has been identified as a main target recently, but the German recently extended his contract and claimed to be happy at the Bundesliga team.
This season, "Bayern" midfielder J. Martinez has played in the center-back position several times and stated that his role in the club has changed.
"I don't have as much freedom in midfield anymore. I can't go towards the opponent's goal and my game has become static. The coach thinks I can play in other positions, so that's what I'm doing," said the 25-year-old Basque.
J. Martinez, who joined the team in the summer of 2012, missed a significant amount of playing time this season due to injuries and appeared on the field only 17 times in the Bundesliga.
