On Sunday, the last two matches of the 33rd round of the English Premier League were played.
In London, Arsenal hosted Southampton, who were fighting for survival. The visitors showed a strong performance at the hosts' fortress, but eventually had to admit defeat with a score of 2-3.
In the 17th minute, Shane Long unexpectedly put the visitors ahead, but Arsenal quickly equalized in the 29th minute through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and nine minutes later Danny Welbeck put the hosts in the lead for the first time in these matches.
However, Southampton did not give up and in the 73rd minute, Charlie Austin, who had just appeared in the field, equalized the score. The Gunners did not want to leave their stadium without a victory - D. Welbeck scored in the 81st minute after another assist from Alex Iwobi, securing three points for his team.
At the end of the match, players from both teams - Jack Stephens and Mohamed Elneny - were shown red cards.
In another match, Chelsea missed a chance to secure the fourth position as they were unable to defeat West Ham at home.
In the 36th minute, Cesar Azpilicueta put the Blues ahead from a set piece, but in the 73rd minute, Javier Hernandez equalized for his team.
Following the draw, Chelsea increased their gap from fourth-placed Tottenham to 10 points. Arsenal, with their victory, now trail Chelsea by just three points.
