London's "Arsenal" player Andrei Arshavin, who belongs to the club, should move to the "Reading" club during the January transfer window.
As reported by "goal.com," the London club has given permission to the 31-year-old forward to negotiate personal contract terms with the "Reading" team, while the clubs have agreed on a £4 million transfer fee. It is said that "Arsenal" would like to raise the player's price to £5 million.
This year, A. Arshavin did not play in the starting lineup in the "Premier" league at all and recently did not feature in the plans of London club manager Arsene Wenger.
Another English club, "Fulham," and Arshavin's former team, St. Petersburg's "Zenit," were also interested in the forward, but "Reading" were the first.
According to reports, the purchase of the forward was also approved by "Reading" owner, Russian oligarch Anton Zingarevich, who was recently criticized by one of the team's players, Jimmy Kebe, for not having enough experienced players in the team who have experience in the "Premier" league.
A. Arshavin moved to "Arsenal" for £15 million in 2009, after playing for "Zenit" all his life until then. Although last year the forward was loaned to St. Petersburg, he would like to stay closer to London, where his family is well settled. "Arsenal" also would like to sell the player, not loan him out, in order to recoup at least part of the money paid in 2009.
In the "Reading" club, there is already one Russian player - Pavel Pogrebnyak. His salary is the highest in the club's history, with the Russian earning around £60,000 per week.
