London's striker Robin van Persie will miss around three weeks of games due to a knee injury and will sit out the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie with Barcelona.
The Dutch national team player got injured in the English League Cup final against Birmingham.
"Unfortunately, we have received bad news - Robin will not be able to play for at least three weeks," said coach Arsene Wenger. "Or maybe even longer. So he will definitely not play against Barcelona."
Coach Arsene Wenger already has to deal with the absence of Thomas Vermaelen, Lukasz Fabianski. Theo Walcott is also unlikely to play against the Catalans.
However, it is expected that midfielder Cesc Fabregas will return to the field against the Spanish champions after missing the final due to a minor hamstring injury.
During this season in the English Championship, R. van Persie scored ten goals in 15 matches.
