Tony Adams, who spent his entire career at London's Arsenal club, returns to football - the 50-year-old Englishman will at least train Granada until the end of the season.
Granada, currently in the second-to-last place in the La Liga standings, officially announced that head coach Lucas Alcaraz has been relieved of his duties.
He will be unexpectedly replaced by T. Adams, who last worked as a coach in 2011. The Englishman briefly coached Wycombe Wanderers in the 2003-04 season, worked at Portsmouth in the 2008-09 season, and two years later was also briefly the coach of Gabala club in Azerbaijan.
Since the end of March, T. Adams has taken on the role of sporting director at Granada.
With 7 rounds left to play in the Spanish league, Granada is currently seven points away from the 17th place, which guarantees survival in the league.
