Today the second day of the "Emirates Cup" ended, when the winner of this friendly tournament was determined.
In the earlier match, the "RB Leipzig" footballers confidently defeated the Lisbon "Benfica" team and finished third. Not long into the first half, Marcel Halstenberg put the Germans in front, and Marvin Compper solidified the lead after the break.
Shortly after, the hosts London "Arsenal" and "Sevilla" took to the field, but no goals were scored in the first half following the exciting matches from the previous day.
In the 49th minute, the visitors were the first to score, with Joaquin Correa finding the back of the net. A few minutes later, the "gunners" rookie Alexandre Lacazette followed suit, sending the ball into empty net.
However, the North London club failed to delight their fans with another victory, as just into the second half, Sevilla's goalkeeper Steven N'Zonzi extended their lead with a superb goal from outside the box.
The end of the tournament itself is truly strange, as the Spaniards who won both matches did not triumph, and the trophy was won by the "Arsenal" footballers. This is due to the unique tournament system, where teams receive not only the usual three points for a win and one for a draw, but also an additional point for each goal scored.
Since the "gunners" yesterday defeated "Benfica" with a score of 5-2, they then scored a total of eight points, and today, adding one more, finished with the same number as "Sevilla". The English side once again surpassed the Spanish team due to a better goal difference.
