"Arsenal" record - still unbroken: "Liverpool" suffered their first setback in the Premier League

On Saturday, the biggest surprise of the season so far was recorded in the English Premier League. In the 28th round, "Liverpool" team's hopes of finishing the season without a loss were shattered.

Jurgen Klopp's side was unexpectedly punished with a shocking 3-0 result by "Watford", who were in last place at the time. Ismaila Sarr's brace in the second half decided the first defeat for the "Reds" in this season.

This means that the record of London's "Arsenal" club will remain untouched - the "Gunners" are the only team in the English Premier League who did not lose a single game in the 2003-04 season.

Before the match with "Watford", "Liverpool" had won 18 consecutive games in the English league and had not suffered a defeat since January of last year. In total, the "Reds" went unbeaten in 44 matches.

Watford's tormentor - I. Sarr - began punishing the visitors at the start of the second half. The Senegalese striker scored his first goal in the 54th minute, and increased the lead in the 60th minute when he went past the left side of the "Liverpool" defense.

The "Reds" still had enough time to recover, but all their hopes were crushed by a mistake from Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Englishman carelessly passed the ball back to Alisson, Sarr intercepted it and passed it to Troy Deeney, who put the ball into the empty "Liverpool" net. The final score was 3-0 and Liverpool had no response.

After the sensational victory, Watford climbed from 19th place to 17th.

Result:

Watford 3 - 0 Liverpool

54' [1 - 0] I. Sarr

60' [2 - 0] I. Sarr

72' [3 - 0] T. Deeney
