Asia Championship semifinal - without Japanese champions (VIDEO)

Today the last two quarterfinal matches of the Asian Championship were played in Australia.

The most attention was drawn to the match between the United Arab Emirates and the Japanese national teams. After a penalty shootout, surprisingly, UAE advanced to the semifinals.

The UAE footballers took the lead first, with A.Al Hajeri scoring in the 7th minute. However, the Japanese did not give up and equalized the score in the 81st minute, leading to extra time.

During extra time, no goals were scored and the teams went on to a penalty shootout. The UAE footballers performed better in the shootout, eliminating the title defenders, Japan, with a 4-5 score.

In other matches, Iraq also defeated Iran after a penalty shootout and advanced to the semifinals, where they will meet the South Korean team on Monday.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates national team will face the tournament's hosts, Australia, in the semifinals.
