At D. Deschamps' conference - singing footballers and pouring champagne (VIDEO)

In 1998, the World Cup took place in France and the national team of this country triumphed in the final by defeating Brazil 3:0. Didier Deschamps was a player at that time and together with his teammates, he raised the champions trophy high. Exactly 20 years passed, and D. Deschamps once again became a world champion, this time as a coach.

Under his leadership, the French national team defeated the Croatian national team in the final of the World Cup held in Russia with a score of 4:2.

During the post-match press conference, the team's strategist was already prepared to answer the first questions from journalists, but the footballers burst in singing and spraying champagne, interrupting the conference. The legendary footballer was visibly drenched in champagne.

After the commotion settled, D. Deschamps, sitting with wet sheets of paper, defended his players: "You know, forgive them. They are young and extremely happy. We are all extremely happy now."

Later on, Deschamps joked that he had already changed his wet papers three times, and they still smelled of champagne.

The coach of the French national team admitted that it is pleasant to become a champion as a player and as a coach, but he did not want to compare the two experiences.

"I don't like talking about myself, but I have to. I think becoming a world champion is more important for the players than for the coach. In general, I just want young people to enjoy our victories. I reminded my players that from now on everything will change in their lives, everyone will see them as world champions all the time, and they will remain such forever," said D. Deschamps.

France's coach stated that he has not yet participated in such a tournament where so many strong teams were eliminated.

"We see a flourishing of defensive football. I wouldn't say that this was an exceptionally beautiful World Cup, but in my eyes, it was a very challenging tournament. And I would say that the smaller countries played much better than could have been predicted just by looking at the team compositions," Deschamps stated.
