At least a thousand supporters from the neighboring country will arrive for the Friday match between the national football teams of Lithuania and Poland. Friendly matches are of interest.
The Polish Football Federation (PZPN) informed the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) that they have sold about a thousand tickets for visiting fans. At least this many fans are expected during the match in Lithuania.
However, one of the ideological leaders of Lithuanian football fans, Ingvaras Butautas, who is interested in the activities of organized Polish football supporters, did not rule out the possibility that the Polish fans might try to buy tickets available for public sale.
"I can't say exactly how many Poles are preparing to come, but they themselves are considering that there might be more people than during the notorious Vilnius "Vėtra" match against "Legia". But these are just predictions. On the other hand, the fact is that the Polish national team is not playing in official competitions, so more fans attend friendly matches," said Butautas.
Ready to welcome supporters
An individual stand with more than 2,000 seats has been allocated for the Polish supporters at the Kaunas S. Darius and S. Girėnas Sports Center stadium. It is planned that this stand will be completely isolated and monitored by video cameras. It has been agreed that both Polish and Lithuanian officials will reinforce the forces here.
"Unfortunately, we have problems with our fans, who are known for their aggressive behavior and can cause disturbances. Our goal is to be as prepared as possible for possible incidents and prevent them," said Zdzislaw Krecina, General Director of the Polish Football Federation, during a visit to Kaunas a month ago.
The national teams of Lithuania and Poland will meet on Friday at the Kaunas S. Darius and S. Girėnas Stadium, with the match starting at 9:30 PM. Tickets for the match are available on BILIETAI.lt. Owners of Lithuanian national team EURO 2012 season tickets will be able to attend the match for free.
