Bergamo's "Atalanta" coach Gian Piero Gasperini had already prepared a plan for the team's preparation for the season, but had to change it fundamentally.
The "Serie A" team did not intend to be in peak physical condition in summer, as after being eliminated from the Europa League tournament by the "Milan" team, they had secured a place in the group stage.
This week, the "black and blue" team received a favorable decision from the Sports Court of Arbitration, which reinstated them in the Old Continent tournament, while at the same time the "Atalanta" club will be forced to play in the qualifying rounds.
On Thursday, the Bergamo team will play against the Sarajevo team.
"We are preparing to play in the qualifiers, but we were not notified in time. These decisions penalized the fans of all teams: ours, "Milan" and "Fiorentina" (the "violets" lost their place in the qualifiers after Milan's return - ed. note).
The Sarajevo club? Our opponents like to launch quick attacks, and we saw at the World Cup that everyone knows how to play football," Gasperini said.
