In other matches, Moscow's "Lokomotiv" at home defeated Istanbul's "Galatasaray" with the same result. For the Russians, this was not only the first victory in the Champions League but also the first points that keep their chances alive to qualify for the European League.
Meanwhile, the defeat suffered by "Galatasaray" automatically allowed the clubs "Porto" and "Schalke" to advance to the quarterfinals.
