Madrid's "Atletico" team cannot buy players until January next year, and there are no exceptions to that. However, club officials are optimistic and already thinking about the winter transfer window.
Their target is the unwanted Diego Costa from London's "Chelsea" team. "Atletico" wants to secure an agreement for D. Costa to join the Madrid club in January. The proposed amount is 40 million pounds.
Although FIFA has banned "Atletico" from registering new purchases until 2018, they remain the only club showing interest in the player.
However, "Atletico" has come up with a way to attract the Spaniard to the team earlier than January. Instead of loaning D. Costa, Diego Simeone would like to sign a contract with the player now and have him train with the team for half a year until the FIFA ban is lifted.
