Atomazga: Fabregas - one step away from transitioning to "Barcelona" club © EuroFootball.com

London security Cesc Fabregas is close to a transfer to the club for around €40 million, BBC reports.

Although an agreement has not yet been reached, it is expected to finalize the formalities by the beginning of next week.

Catalans will pay almost €35 million immediately for Fabregas, and the remaining amount - according to additional, performance-dependent conditions. "Arsenal" plans to reinvest all the money received to strengthen the squad.

If sold, the Spaniard himself will have to pay almost €5 million - more than €1 million per season - for each season of the contract he had with "Arsenal."

Negotiations for Fabregas between English and Spanish clubs have been going on for over a year, but so far have not been successful. Nevertheless, the player's desire to return to the team where he took his first professional steps led to "Arsenal's" decision to sell him.

He will become the second major purchase for "Barcelona" this summer after Chilean Alexis Sanchez.
