„Wolfsburg“ sniper Bas Dost believes that becoming the top scorer in the German championship this season will be a very difficult task for him.
Currently, the Dutchman is third in terms of goals scored and is behind Arjen Robben from Bayern Munich by four goals and Alexander Meier from Eintracht Frankfurt by three.
Despite scoring 11 times in the last six matches, Dost says he has lost too much before the winter break.
„Every player wants to win the award for the top scorer in the Bundesliga,“ - Dost was quoted by Sport Bild.
„However, in the first half of the season, I only scored twice, so it is almost impossible to achieve that.“
„Maybe the situation will be different in a few weeks.“
„I scored a goal in the first game after the break against Bayern Munich and that added a lot of confidence in myself. I told myself that I have to keep moving in the same direction. So far, I have managed to maintain my form.“
„I am very happy about that, but I want to prove that I am worthy of being the main striker for Wolfsburg. There was a lot of talk some time ago about getting a new striker, but that is no longer an issue.“
The team led by the 25-year-old player is currently in second place in the highest German league. „Wolfsburg“ is eight points behind Bayern.
