36-year-old Bayern Munich defender Bixente Lizarazu announced that he will end his football career after this season.

In 1998, the Frenchman became a World Champion and two years later a European Champion with the French national team. In 2001, he won the UEFA Champions League with Bayern.

Throughout his career in the national team, which lasted until 2004, B. Lizarazu played 97 matches.

In an interview, the defender said: "My last match in Bayern Munich colors will take place on May 13."
